AP New C.M agrees to bail out RTC?



Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababu Naidu has agreed to the plea of the National Mazdoor Union (NMU) for strengthening of the AP Road Transport Corporation and to provide better amenities to the employees of the corporation, according to a statement issued by NMU additional general secretary Y. Srinivasa Rao.

A delegation of NMU leaders met Mr. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday and sought his cooperation in protecting the interests of the corporation in Seemandhra, post bifurcation of the State. Mr. Srinivasa Rao recalled that the NMU had sought among other things waiver of the loans of the corporation, protection of RTC, merger of the corporation in the government and the Telugu Desam Party had included in its election manifesto of protecting the corporation, extending concessions and job security to RTC employees.

The other demands raised by the NMU included: ensuring that the Seemandhra region of RTC gets 58 per cent of the total assets of the corporation, allocation of Rs.500 crore budget to the corporation every year and purchase of new buses every year. He said that Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had agreed to strive to achieve the demands.
